About Me: Favorite party trick: Getting people to guess where I?m from. But since we?re not at a party, I?ll tell you. I?m somewhat a citizen of the universe. Grew up in subtropical South Africa, but have finally gotten used to freezing winters in Boston. My siblings live all over the world, from Texas to Dubai, and we recently convened in London just to watch a rugby match (well, it was a big International game between the last 2 winners of the Rugby World Cup). My friends kid me that I'm a globe-trotting "culture vulture". Monet?s water-lilies lower my blood pressure and Puccini?s operas feed my soul. And I?m pretty sure that if I stop shopping at Barnes and Noble, they?re going to go under. While I have an academic side (it comes with having professors for parents), I wake up to ZZ Top playing in the electronic beast known as the alarm clock and like nothing better than watching the Patriots over microbrews at my local neighborhood pub. Although sharing eclectic interests is great, relationships are about partnership ? knowing that we?re there for each other when the going gets tough. And frankly, if you?re ever lost in the Peloponnese Peninsula, you couldn?t ask for a better navigator ? or a better friend.

About The Man That I Seek: You know that wholegrain toast with crunchy peanut butter is the secret to waking me in the morning. You may be a Jeopardy whiz, but you?re still vulnerable to losing in Scrabble. You know that cooking is a joint activity, meant to be savored, laughed at, and enjoyed with a glass of Cabernet. You believe tropical vacations are necessary to defrost from East Coast winters. You understand that visiting my old college friends requires a flight, as opposed to a drive. You appreciate that I?d spend years searching for your favorite out-of-print book. You?ll take me on a tour of wineries in the Loire Valley and I?ll share with you my favorite five wine routes of the Western Cape. You agree that giving a percentage of your pre-tax income is important. You can get on well with pig farmers from Arkansas, eccentric scientists from UCLA and military logisticians (current whereabouts classified). You?re a great dad (if you have kids). You?d offer your seat on the T to an old man, and not just because people are watching. You give me the freedom to be myself, and yet challenge me to be more than I already am. You can?t stop smiling when you think about us.
